Many people today work at a computer for 8+ hours a day, which can lead to eye fatigue and eye strain. Working in front of a screen late at night can also leave you restless and unable to fall asleep ultimately leading to further issues ranging from obesity to low energy during the day.
In a 2012 study, subjects were exposed to 2 hours of tablet use before bed. Half the subjects were equipped with orange tinted glasses which have been shown to filter out short-wavelength radiation. The subjects that were not equipped with with any glasses were shown to have much higher melatonin (a hormone which which helps you get to sleep) suppression.
Taking this into account, we basically want to try to eliminate or reduce blue/cool light before bed. I use an application called f.lux which “warms up” the screen on my PC depending on the time of the day. Since I have started using it, I have noticed less eye fatigue and being able to fall asleep much easier after working on the computer.
