We often associate the term “becoming rich overnight” with scams, people winning the lotto or going public with a business. When we hear the word “rich” most of us automatically think to money or physical assets. While making my coffee this morning, I was entertaining an array of thoughts and the word “rich” came into my consciousness (perhaps it was the rich coffee aroma).
There are two main definitions of “rich”:
-
having a great deal of money or assets; wealthy.“a rich and famous family”
-
existing in plentiful quantities; abundant.“the rich flora and fauna of the forest”
As I stood there playing with the thought, I paused and waited long enough for my brain to consider the second definition. Abundant. Plentiful. Let that marinade for a bit.
It doesn’t take much to be rich in spirit, love and friendship. Nor does it take much to be rich in character (one could argue that you do, but you certainly don’t require a lot of money to be rich in personality and character).
